General Info

We are about 2 miles outside Dunmow on the B184 to Thaxted. Our Holistic Retreat is in a quiet rural setting giving your animals a peaceful stay. We also have a field for 1 horse or two ponies to share with our eight goats and our chickens. Both my wife and I have been looking after animals of all descriptions for all our lives.

Accommodation

We have six 2' x 4' purpose built hutches in a secure snug shed and an 6'6” x 4' outdoor run for exercise. We also have three further indoor cages for use. We have small pet carriers to loan you free of charge if this is needed to transport your pets to and from us.  Bottles and bowls are provided. Please feel free to bring your pets own litter tray and litter (if different to what is provided) and their favourite toy.

Exercise

There is an outside run of 8' x 4' that is wired underneath set on grass for fresh air exercise. There is space within the shed for limited exercise in bad weather. Pets will be visited four or more times a day for feeding, exercise and petting.

Health & Hygiene

The health and welfare of all pets is our primary consideration. Pets will be given a daily health check when they are having thier petting session!

Rabbits must have up to date vaccinations against Myxomatosis and Viral Haemorrhagic Disease (VHD) - at least two weeks prior to arrival (NB: these vaccinations may be given at least two weeks apart). **Please bring certificate as proof of vaccination**  We recommend treatment for internal and external parasites.

Should your pet be on any medication, we are able to administer it - please give me full written details prior to leaving your pet.

Hutches will be cleaned every day and disinfected using a veterinary approved disinfectant between boarders. Fresh water, vegetables, delicious meadow hay and shavings are given daily.

We provide food but ask owners to bring your pet's own dried food if they are concerned that tummy upsets could occur with a changed diet.

There are three local emergency vets close to us.

£5-00 per day per Rabbit or £30 per 7 days

£1-50 per day per companion sharing or £8 per 7 days

£4-00 per day per Guinea Pig or £25 per 7 days

£1-00 per day per companion sharing or £6 per 7 days

Prices include good quality meadow hay, fresh fruit/veg, water, shavings, daily health checks, cuddles, cleaning.

We require a deposit upon booking with the BALANCE PAID ON ARRIVAL by cash or cheque. For one hutch the deposit is £10.00 per week. For each pet sharing, an additional £5.00 deposit per week is required.

The boarding charge includes the day your pet is brought to us and the day he/she leaves regardless of the time of day.

Open Hours

Open all year round. We charge no extra premiums throughout the year.

Drop off generally between 8-45 to 9-15 am

Collection generally between 5-00 to 6-00 pm

or by agreed strict appointment at request.

B184 FROM DUNMOW – COME OUT OF TOWN PAST HELEN ROMANA’S SCHOOL, DOWN THE HILL AND STRAIGHT OVER THE NEW ROUNDABOUT. WE ARE ON THE RIGHT JUST PAST THE LAYBY ON YOUR LEFT. LOOK FOR THE PURPLE SIGN AT OUR ENTRANCE ON THE RIGHT AT THE BROW OF THE RISE.

B184 FROM THAXTED – COME THROUGH GT EASTON PAST THE ROLLS ROYCE SHOWROOM DOWN THE DIP AND OVER THE HILL. WE ARE ON THE LEFT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE STRAIGHT DOWNHILL. LOOK FOR OUR PURPLE SIGN ON THE LEFT JUST BEFORE THE BEND.
