What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a deeply relaxing and energising holistic therapy which treats the whole person rather than just the symptoms of disease. The origin of the treatment has been traced back to China and Egypt, as far back as 4,000 years ago. The aim is to release any blockages and restore the free flow of energy and blood circulation to the whole body.
It is a system of massage, based on the theory that there are reflex points on the feet and hands linked to every part of the body. When pressure is applied to these areas and points it stimulates the movement of energy along the nerve channels, and helps to restore balance in the whole body and aid relaxation.
I do not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe, however I have helped to relieve clients from back pain, cystitis, stomach disorders such as IBS , allergies, sinus problems and hay fever. Reflexology can also be beneficial for people with fertility problems and I have worked with those on IVF.
For the past 8 years I have been very blessed to have worked alongside the The Hummingbird Cancer Support Group, who are associated with the MacMillan Trust. Reflexology has helped many cancer patients with their pain and discomfort, and has better enabled them the deal with the stress associated with their conditions by creating a state of relaxation. To receive the most benefit from Reflexology I would recommend a series of 4-6 treatments once a week, and then reduced to once a month. This will give the body the help and support it needs whilst aiding a restful nights sleep.
During the treatment you will be led, fully clothed, on my comfortable therapy couch wrapped in a soft blanket. After the initial consultation I will remove your socks and begin to connect to your energy. This involves applying a gentle pressure to each foot one at a time, using the thumb and fore fingers. This technique sends signals to all the nerve endings, allowing me to work every gland, organ and part of the body.

I have been a qualified Reflexologist since 1990 and completed my studies with Ann Gillanders at the British School of Reflexology. The training took me 1 year, and I have also gone on to complete 3 further advanced courses with her.
I would like to stress that I am not here to be used instead of a GP, but to work alongside them. I do not advise that any medication should be stopped.
